OCS Results & pictures

March 1st, 2010

OCS Recap from Chris Martin:

Just wanted to fill everyone in on the races this morning. The prize today goes to Gael Hagan! Gael destroyed the 4/5 race in the morning at 11 and then crushed the field again in the afternoon in the 3/4 race. Maciej Balajewicz took second in each of these races, and Matt Rinehart took 5th in the morning race. Tom placed 5th in the Masters 1/2 race after launching an incredible attack early on to catch an early break that was joined later by some Triangle Velo guys who ended up launching later in the race so that Tom was stuck with a field riddled with Velo guys that wouldn’t work with him. That’s bike racing. Other than that, everyone did extraordinarily well. This was a lot of peoples’ first crits so I think a lot of people learned a lot today including Davis who learned that poles can jump in front of you. Please hit the forums if you have some time today or tomorrow. I’d love to know what was going on for other people.

NCSU Road Race Pics & Results

February 21st, 2010

Duke got off to a great start to the 09-10 road race season with 25+ racers competing in the Top of the Hill road race on Valentine’s Day.  We had numerous top 10 finishes across all categories, and scored 80 pts in the team category.  That puts Duke in 2nd place in ACCC division 2.  Thanks to an impressive A race by Thom Dominic, we also scored 68 pts for nationals qualifications.

Orange County Speedway Races

January 18th, 2010

January 30 & February 6 2010

These races are a perfect warm up for the collegiate road season. Orange County Speedway (OCS) is a 600 meter track that is banked at 19° and ideal for cycling races. If you are new to racing, this is a great way to get comfortable riding in a group at competitive paces. If you are a seasoned veteran, this is a good way to shake off the rust/dust from a cold winter.

While these are NOT official Duke rides, we will plan to meet on campus and bike there and back for warm-up / cool-down.

Also, you must be registered with USA Cycling to compete in these races. If you do not register ahead of time, you can purchase a day license at the race for an additional fee.
